Project usage

The Usage page of a project shows what the project consumed and what it cost in credits. It used to sit under Metrics and now has its own place in the project menu, at Project → Usage. Old links that point at the Metrics page with a usage or checkout query still land here. For performance and reliability charts, see Project metrics.

What the page shows

  • Summary tiles: active sessions, sessions started, billable time, sessions waiting in the capacity queue right now, average queue wait, error rate, and billable time for the current calendar month (UTC). Monthly usage resets on the 1st.
  • Credit use over time: credits burned by kind (voice time, data sessions, speech services and so on) for the selected range, with the same presets and custom range as the other project pages.
  • Credit packs: buy a pack for the project. Credits appear in the balance a few seconds after the payment goes through.

Voice usage per project

Below the credit charts, the Usage page has a Voice usage section that shows how much each VoiceThere voice spoke in the selected range. It has three parts:

  • Configured voices: the voices the project uses right now, with their quality tier and where each one applies (the main voice or a voice for a single language). High-quality voices are marked as slower and higher priced, the same way as in the voice picker.
  • Usage by voice: a table with the characters spoken, the credits they cost and the number of sessions for each voice, plus the totals for the range. A voice that is no longer configured still shows up here if it spoke during the range.
  • Over time: a chart of characters per voice. Ranges up to 48 hours use one bar per hour, longer ranges use one bar per day.

The section follows the same period presets and custom range as the rest of the page, so changing the range updates the credit charts and the voice usage together. When the project had no voice usage in the range, the section says so and still lists the configured voices.

Characters are counted per voice. If a session switches voice halfway through, for example when the caller changes language, the characters before the switch count for the first voice and the characters after it for the second. Older usage was recorded before this exact counting existed and carries only the voice the session ended with, so it is shown under that voice. The page adds a note when the selected range contains such usage.

The price of each voice depends on its quality tier. See Speech pricing for the rates and for how to choose a tier.
